In 1974, Diana bought a pony and started her own "school" of riding in her home-town of Darnestown. Neighborhood children flocked to her, and Diana began to get a feel for the unique way she would always teach - what she calls her "Show and Tell" method. Using vivid visualization techniques (Diana is also an artist) and her own body to explain things to students, she frequently will hop on the lesson horse and demonstrate the movement or idea "live and in person". This helps Diana's students to more fully understand the concepts of riding . . . something they say makes the learning fast and fun.
During her adult years, Diana has learned from many talented instructors - each of whom she thanks for giving her one or hundreds of valuable pieces to the "puzzle": Leni Clifford of Dedication Farm, Tom Larson, Bent Jensen, Charles DeKunffy, Stephanie Millham of Catlett, VA, Bill Biggs of California, Mari Zdunic (protege of Chuck Grant) of Michigan, Dr. Sherry Ackerman of California, Wendy Carlson (R) of Maryland and Bettina Drummond of Connecticut.
In August, 2000, Diana opened her School of Equestrian Dance, whereby riders enjoy the thrill of precision drill riding on the Andalusian school horses that Diana has trained herself. In 2005 the School became the Equestrian Theatre, which holds monthly performances for the public from April thru December.
Diana trains regularly with author and instructor, Paul Belasik, of Pennsylvania. Diana has made a passionate committment to the highest calibre of classical riding, and is following the traditions and practices of the true classicists.
Diana teaches classical dressage on Spring Fever Farm's well trained school horses, or the students' horses, if they have them. She also teaches clinics for barns which desire them or when several friends want to enjoy a classical dressage experience together.
